Meet Bob and Caron

We first started coming to the beautiful north shore of Prince Edward Island over 12 years ago and absolutely fell in love with the most magnificent ocean beach we had ever seen (and we've seen a lot of beaches)!

Each year we would return to our friends’ cottage in Lakeside and use it as a base camp for exploring this peaceful and friendly island ringed with gorgeous beaches, impressive sand dunes, quaint villages, authentic PEI experiences and the friendliest people you could ever want to meet.

When our friends offered to sell us the cottage, Bob, who normally takes considerable time to make important decisions such as this, had no hesitation whatsoever and said YES! When that happens you know how special this place is!

Over the past year, we have built on our friends’ legacy and transformed this small cottage into a cozy place where family, friends and other guests can come with two - four people for rejuvenation, exploration and relaxation.

Our central location, just 30 minutes from Charlottetown, is ideal to explore the cultural, musical, culinary, natural and authentic experiences of the island.

What's in a name?

Deciding on a name for the cottage took much longer than it did to purchase the cottage! The name we ultimately chose, “Sea la Vie” comes from the French phrase “C’est la Vie,” which translates to “That’s Life.”

Sea la Vie is a play on words - associated with coastal living, the beach, and the sea, reflecting a carefree and relaxed attitude, and an emphasis on embracing life by the beach. The best description comes from Donna Gonzalez who states:

It reflects the tranquil and rejuvenating atmosphere of the ocean, a place where guests can come to unwind and revitalize their mind, body, and spirit. It’s about feeling the salty breeze and the sun on our face, and living every moment to its fullest potential.

Sea la Vie encapsulates the idea of living life with an open heart and a sense of adventure. It’s not just about seizing the day; it’s about setting sail on our own personal voyage, embracing the unknown, going with the flow, and finding joy in the journey.

And it's a reminder to cherish the moments, both big and small, for they are the grains of sand that make up the beach of our lives.

This name encapsulates our vision for our family, friends and guests.

Have you hugged a lighthouse lately?

My brother, who had just arrived on the island for a holiday, was ecstatic with the historic lighthouse that we had found. He ran up the sandy path to the abandoned lighthouse, gently touched the ancient wood and then gave it an even more gentle bear hug.

This is the power of lighthouses…they make grown men want to hug them!
